A profound homily by Bishop Innokenty. I feel like I am surrounded by Christians in my small city, except for a handful, that this is their theme. Everyone else is doing it, down to their clothing. The priests and pastors are following what everyone else is doing around them. Keeping it light and fluffy to please the crowd and their bishops. There are no longer any temptations.
Sometimes I think becoming a priest is like going into politics. Good intentions to start. But then there is the risk of losing "members" who will be offended by standards. Ultimately, it is the bishops who set the tone. When they are permissive, or rather, dismissive, what else can possibly result but the democratization of piety?
Excellent homily.
