Христос воскресе!

As stated, Lestovki are not permitted to have crosses on them as the holy cross cannot touch the floor. But if an Old Ritualist uses a Podruchnik then doesn't that cancel it out? I've heard this argument from Old Ritualist who do allow crosses depicted.

Please respond if time allows, God save.

Воистину Воскресе! That is reasonable and certainly this argument can be made if one is careful with their ladder. But in my experience, especially during Lenten times when prostrations are almost constant, this would be a nuisance. Mine hits the floor all the time, regardless of the podruchnik, but maybe my technique is faulty ...

Who knows, I'm sure there are pious Russians who can do it blind.

I have a Lestovka coming in the mail, from the St. Demetrios Monastery, so I definitely look forward to having my own. I'm "mainstream" orthodox, perhaps you would say, however I do admire the ancient Russian peity.

Thank you for the quick reply!

This refers to a Slavonic edition, but the same information is printed in the Erie Old Orthodox Prayer Book, in English. It is in the appendix in the back of the book.

Does UK allow financial payments to Russia? If so, there are many options there I can give you. If not, then here is a Romanian Old Believer who makes excellent ones. I just received three, and it really makes a difference when it is a master who makes them - your fingers do not tire of advancing through the steps and they are spaced perfectly. I have received others that are tiresome and stiff to hold.

They currently only sell on facebook. Search for the user named MyLestovka. They have a blue "L" as their logo. You can use a translator like Yandex Translate or Google Translate to put your requests into Russian for communication. They accept paypal, and their shipping was very fast.

For a plain, unadorned ladder, expect to pay ~$50, plus shipping. There are sites in the US, even a ROCOR monastery that sells them, but they do not make them and they charge significantly more (clearly as a novelty). And frankly, I have gone through too many sub-standard quality ladders to take risks. If you think you will use it for prayer, you want it to be comfortable for the fingers!
